St. John the Evangelist parish was formed on July 1st 2014 by a merger of four parishes: St. John the Evangelist parish in Loogootee, St. Joseph parish in Bramble, St. Martin parish in Whitfield, and St. Mary (Immaculate Conception) in Shoals.  Also included in the merger was St. Mary (Assumption of Mary) Chapel in Barr Township.

The pastor of St. John parish is the Very Rev. Kenneth Walker.  Fr. Walker is assisted by Deacon William Consley.
